Bach’s St John Passion : A Major Event at St Mark’s
Arts at St Mark's is putting on a second joint performance by the St Mark's Choir and Wolfson College Choir, following on from their triumphant production of Messiah in 2010.
On Sunday 18th March, at 7.30 pm the two choirs will be joined by an orchestra, whose members comprise many of the most highly respected and sought-after period-instrument players from across the UK and Europe, in a performance of Bach's magnificent St John Passion.
This passionate work tells the story of Christ's arrest, trial and crucifixion through the medium of music, which is by turns stormy and reflective, violent and penitential, and will give an intense emotional journey for audience and performer alike. Tickets for Messiah sold out, and demand for St John Passion seats is likely to be considerable.
Prices are £10 or £8 for under 16s. Bookings taken by Derek Cummings on 329667 and by John and Janet Brady on 353668.
